Backstory[]
Harold Birch married Edna in about 1960 but it was a marriage of convenience. He had a lifelong friend called w:c:emmerdale:Lawrence White in about 1964 and he was in love with him at a time when homosexuality was illegal. Lawrence was later sent to prison.
Harold had died by May 2000.
