Matty Barton (Formerly Hannah Barton) is a character in Emmerdale who first appeared in 2009. He is the youngest child of John and Moira Barton. In 2012, Hannah left Emmerdale Village with her sister and moved to London. While away from Emmerdale, Hannah went through transgender treatment to become a man, and once a man named himself Matty Barton. As Hannah, the character was played by w:c:emmerdale:w:c:emmerdale:Grace Cassidy. As Matty, the character is played by w:c:emmerdale:w:c:emmerdale:Ash Palmisciano.

Hannah Barton was born on the 21st August 1994 to w:c:emmerdale:w:c:emmerdale:John Barton and w:c:emmerdale:w:c:emmerdale:Moira Barton.

In 2018 Hannah returns as Matty, a transgender man. He broke into his old home to retrieve his birth certificate but was caught by Cain. Cain did not know who he was, so detained him and in true Cain style, threatening to beat the truth out of him. Matty explained that he used to be Hannah. Matty got into a fight while in Leeds and was in hospital.
