Celia, right in 1974.
Celia Winterton was a minor character in Emmerdale Farm in July and August 1974. She was the fiancee of traveller w:c:emmerdale:w:c:emmerdale:Dryden Hogben, who had been living in Beckindale for the past 6 months. Celia was played by w:c:emmerdale:w:c:emmerdale:Penelope Horner.

Celia Winterton was engaged to Dryden Hogben in the early 1970s. Dry came from a rich family. She persuaded Dry to propose to her. Whne he did, she accepted. Dry then decided to go travelling without Celia. Celia and Dry's family travelled round the country hoping to find Dry.
1974[]
In July 1974, Dry was staying in Beckindale, and had been for 6 months, in which he became very popular and respected in the village. Celia finally found Dry in The Woolpack. Dry was taken aback to see she had found him. Until then, Dry was happy in Beckindale. Celia said they belong together and she will find him if he runs away again. Overnight, Dry absconded from Beckindale.
w:c:emmerdale:w:c:emmerdale:Annie Sugden told Celia that Dry is not in Beckindale any more, he has moved on. She also gave Celia some advice, saying that the more she chases her man, the more he will run. Celia accepted this and that she may not see Dry again. Celia admitted defeat and returned home. Dry later wrote to the Sugdens to say he was in Ireland.
Celia later sent the Sugden's a gift.
